Xaraxai Area

Xaraxai (also spelled Xharaxai or Xharaxao) is a remote area in the northern Okavango Delta of Botswana, within the wider Okavango Delta/Ngamiland region. It lies in a wetland environment of seasonal floodplains, channels, lagoons, grasslands and islands, with Kadizora and Duba Plains areas nearby. Botswana's official tourism information describes the Delta as a mixture of permanent waterways, seasonal wetlands and dryland habitats supporting abundant wildlife.



The area is particularly relevant to safari operations because of its network of bush airstrips. Xaraxai Airstrip provides fly-in access, while Kadizora Airstrip is only about 9 km away from the wider Xaraxai area and Omdop Airstrip is roughly 18 km southeast. The surrounding Sekwana Concession is an important safari area, with properties such as Xaraxai and Duke's Camp offering both wet and dry activities.
